A farmer's wife

 

Tom was smart, strong and energetic 22 year old young man. He was well educated, but the prospect of dreary office work oppressed and did not attract him. He believed that he was designed for a more real and valuable life... So he went as a student and assistant to the farm of Mr. Judd to learn practical knowledge about agriculture. In the future Tom hoped to buy his own farm and to do his own agricultural business. On a farm Tom met with the wife of Mr. Judd named Mary. In the local district Mary had a bad reputation. For example, local people said she was crazy. However,  Tom did not see in Mrs. Judd's nothing special, except that she was closed and aloof woman.

 A few weeks after Tom went to the farm of Mr. Judd as an apprentice, Mr. Judd is away on business in the city. Tom remained on the farm to look after the farm. Suddenly Mary invited him to drink tea with her. Tom accepted her offer, but when he drank a cup of tea, he lost consciousness.

 When Tom awoke, he was lying on the edge of the bed. He felt very strange. He looked at his hands, but it was not his hands! It was a WOMAN's HANDS! Then Tom looked down at his body, but it wasn't his body! To his surprise and horror Tom saw on his chest the FEMALE BREASTS and that he is dressed in a FEMALE DRESS! His hair was much longer than usual, and they crawled to Tom's face. Then Tom saw the reflection in the mirror opposite, but it was not his reflection! It was a reflection of Mary Judd! Shocked Tom cried out in horror, but it wasn't his voice that sounded out of his mouth; it was female voice - the voice of Mary Judd! Then Tom saw the letter in which was written the following:

"Dear Tom,

 

 If you are reading this you're no doubt aware that I have stolen your body. This is probably been a terrible shock and you're probably wondering how and why. I'm afraid I'm not going to tell you how. Not yet at least. But as for why? Well, because my marriage was the biggest mistake of my life. Before my wedding I lived a free life, I was the mistress for myself,  I lived as I'm comfortable and  as I liked. However, I succumbed to the evil influences of public opinion. All of my "friends" and acquaintances said that a woman should be married. They laughed at me due to the fact that I'm lonely. Finally, under the weight of psychological stress, I broke down and I found a man, whom I married.

 After the wedding I became very unhappy. I lost the opportunity to dispose of myself,  I lost my freedom, I became totally dependent of my husband. Worse, I began to live in these terrible conditions in the countryside (before my wedding, I was living in a comfortable environment in the town). I tried to escape from here and return to my old good life, but I had no opportunity to do it. That's why I stole your body. It was the only way for me to start all over again, to regain my freedom and  to escape from this hateful farm. When you read this letter, I have left the farm; I sent a telegram to Mr. Judd, to inform him of my (or rather, your) departure. Now you are Mary Judd and You should to play my role. Please don't tell anyone about our little secret (that I swapped with you). If you tell anyone, no one will believe you, since all of my acquaintances, even my husband, thinks I'm a crazy. Be a good girl, and then I maybe will contact you and tell you how I swapped us.

When Tom had read the letter, his/her new eyes filled with tears. (S)he was absolutely demoralized. He, a 22-year-old strong, forceful and independent guy, is stuck in the helpless body of 36-year-old married woman. His old life was completely destroyed. However, in front of him he was waiting for a new FEMALE's life.
